Celebrity-Inspired Breast Augmentation, Tailored to You

Sigh, celebrities… those that entertain, those that educate, those that inspire. When it comes to curating an aesthetic, we often look to celebrities for ideas on what’s cool, chic, and just overall desirable. After all, they are at the forefront of wider social standards and beauty preferences.

We take photos of the latest red carpets to our hairdressers and nail techs; we create Pinterest boards of fashion runways; and sometimes, we mention our faves to our plastic surgeons during consultations.

Even when it comes to getting a surgery like a breast augmentation, celebrities can be a guiding light for where to start our journey. But how far can we take their guidance?

Why Breast Augmentation Should Never Be One-Size-Fits-All

It’s completely normal to see the quintessential Kardashian/Jenner bod and think, “I want that.” The issue with latching onto a celebrity’s results for an exact blueprint of your own surgical outcome, however, is that every body is different.

Even if you find celebrities that have roughly the same ‘body type’ as yourself, the comparison may only go skin-deep. Aside from our outward proportions, our internal anatomy (which is hard to clock in paparazzi photos) will necessarily influence results.

When you come in for a consultation with a plastic surgeon, they will complete a series of measurements to assess your anatomy. They’ll make notes about the width and shape of your chest wall, the volume of your breast tissue, your overall skin quality, your nipple/areolar placement, and the distance between your breasts… to name a few.

Given these unique features, you’ll receive a customized surgical plan suited to your preferences. These preferences can be informed by a celebrity’s look; we just want to be careful not to copy/paste their exact implant. Remember, the same implant size and profile will look different on different bodies.

Perhaps a grounding principle when it comes to modeling our breast augmentations after celebrities is inspiration not imitation. You can certainly bring in photos, but try to direct your focus on the overall look of the breast. Think of your desired slope, perkiness, cleavage, and side profile instead of DMing influencers to get a scan of their OR note.

Choosing the Right Implant Size and Profile

Your breast augmentation plan will consist of a general technique, specifying an incision site and implant placement, as well as a personalized range of implant options. Implants, like breasts, come in many shapes and sizes. There’s a lot that goes into choosing the right breast implant size.

The size of a breast implant is measured in cubic centimeters (e.g., 350 cc). The size determines the volume of your breasts after surgery; natural breast tissue + implant size = post-op breast size, give or take. The shape of a breast implant is indicated by its profile, which ranges from low to high. The profile of your implant will determine the distribution of its volume, which affects the projection, or silhouette, of your breast.

While initial preferences are always taken into consideration, our plastic surgeons will prioritize natural and sustainable results. Choosing the ‘right’ implants involves a consideration of your proportions as well as your lifestyle.

How Anatomy and Lifestyle Influence Your Results

We established that your range of implants will be proportional to your anatomy. This is how we go about creating natural-looking results. Your anatomy determines the baseline, and we work hard to make results proportional to that baseline.

Aside from anatomy, your lifestyle is another factor for you to consider when it comes to the longevity of your results. This is where you’ll do your own assessment of your daily physical demands, or whether or not you’re planning on having children, for example.

Athletic clients might prefer smaller implants; women planning to have children might wait until they’ve had their last one before breast surgery. We have no input on these things, of course; it’s your life. We do, however, encourage patients to genuinely reflect on their lifestyles to determine the sustainability of their breast augmentation.

Consulting with Professionals: Caution with Celebrity Stories

Inspiration might not be the only thing you draw from celebrity breast augmentations. Plastic surgery horror stories are all the rage in the entertainment world. Speculative tabloids and reality TV shows have platformed negativity, and it can be a blessing and a curse.

While we can, and should, learn from others’ mistakes by listening to their stories, discernment goes a long way. Just as you wouldn’t copy a celebrity’s surgical plan to a tee, you also shouldn’t assume that their experience will be the same as yours.

The best course of action: consult a professional. Celebrity regrets can give you the questions to ask, but the answers should come from a board-certified plastic surgeon.

All in all, when it comes to breast augmentations and the celebrities who have them, three key takeaways include:

  • Lean into inspiration, not imitation
  • Customize your procedure to your anatomy and lifestyle, not that of others
  • Celebrities may have insights, but this never trumps personalized advice from a healthcare provider.

If you’d like to get direct feedback about what a breast augmentation would look like for you, book a consultation with our board-certified professionals today.
